These are just a few resources that helped me tremendously when I was going through the death of my son. I hope you might find solace in some of these as well. These are also great gifts to give someone who is hurting, when you don't know what else to do for them. <3
I will carry you, by angie smith
This book is written by Angie Smith, the wife of the lead singer of Selah. They found out their daughter would most likely die at birth, but chose to carry her to term anyway. This book is a celebration of the life of their daughter, Audrey Caroline and the heart wrenching journey they went through to find healing. I read this book just weeks after I lost Matthew and I could relate so much to her honest look at the loss of a precious life.
Grieving the Child I never knew: A Devotional for Comfort in the Loss of Your Unborn or Newly Born Child by Kathe Wunnenberg
This book is more of a journal type book, that helps a mother process through her thoughts of the loss of her child. I loved the insight and the sensitivity she took in dealing with the losses she went through. I bought this book five years after Matthew's death, and still found such comfort in it.
beauty will rise
I wore this album out, literally. Every single song spoke directly to my soul. In the beginning, it felt a little more optimistic than I wanted to be, but as time went on, it was just what I needed to hear. I loved his honesty in this album working through the death of his daughter.
